Bill
Bean and Tom Gates both started collecting stamps when they
were less than ten years old. Today they remain friends and partners in Triple
"S" Postal History, the business they founded in
1974.
We strive to offer interesting and unusual postal history from all over the world. At any given time, tens of thousands of covers are in our stock---with many of the finest items offered here on our website. In addition, we have a booth at six to eight major national and international exhibitions each year. Our website is growing into becoming THE "Postal History Destination" on the Internet. ABOUT US...
| Bill Bean A lifelong resident of Urbana, Ohio (where he was born in 1949), Bill began collecting stamps when he was seven years old and now collects the philately of Central Lithuania. In 1974, he joined with his good friend Tom Gates to start Triple "S" Postal History. Bill serves as president of Triple "S" and also as president and owner of the L.B. Berry Insurance Agency in Urbana. He and his wife have one daughter, Teresa. Actively involved in his local community, Bill belongs to the Urbana Lions Club, the Moose Lodge, and is a Trustee of Urbana University. He also belongs to the Independent Insurance Association, the First Presbyterian Church of Urbana, and the Urbana Chamber of Commerce and Urbana Country Club. |
Tom Gates Born in Piqua, Ohio, in 1950, Tom began collecting stamps just eight years later. At the age of 24, he co-founded Triple "S" Postal History with his good friend, Bill Bean. Today, still an active philatelist as well as a dealer, Tom collects Boy Scout postal history and modern U.S., especially the Liberty Series. Tom serves as vice president of Triple "S" while being the father of five children and grandfather of 13. He is also president of Gates Brothers Glass Shops and the County Glass Shops. In Urbana, he is a member of the Rotary Club, Urbana Country Club, and a Trustee of Urbana University. He also serves on the Executive Board of the Tecumseh Council of the Boy Scouts of America. A member of 13 chambers of commerce, Tom also belongs to the Piqua Knights of Columbus and Bellefontaine Elks Club. |

Bill and Tom have been seriously active on the bourse of major stamp shows
around the world for nearly three decades. Some of their past shows include:
LONDON '90, LONDON 2000, Pacific 97, CAPEX '87, CAPEX '96, IBRA (Nurnberg) '99,
Finlandia 95, ESPANA 2000, WIPA 2000, BELGICA 2001, HAFNIA in Copenhagen, and
many major national shows in the United States such as Cleveland's annual
Garfield-Perry March Party and the annual APS StampSHOW, this year scheduled to
take place in Chicago.
